This dissertation incorporates three independent essays on the impact of climate change on the United States' agriculture, with each explores a different facet of climate change. There have been heated debates about the potential impact of climate change on the United States' agriculture. Several influential studies such as Schlenker, Hanemann, and Fisher , , Schlenker and Roberts suggest a potentially large negative impact of climate change on farmland values and crop yields, while others including Mendelsohn, Nordhaus, and Shaw , and Deschenes and Greenstone believe that there is little impact or the US agriculture could be a major beneficiary of global warming. These opposing results inspired my work to examine another aspect of climate change that has not been carefully addressed in the current literature: the impact of climate and weather extremes.
Effects of Global Warming Essay | Cram
The climate of an area determines its seasons and when they come and go. This, in turn, affects the type of plants that grow and which animals survive. The species and places we love depend on intricate ecosystems, and even small changes to the climate can disrupt the delicate balance of nature. As humans, every aspect of our life is reliant on the natural environment.
Essay on Effects of Global Warming
Global warming , or climate change, is one of the topical discourses around the world. This is the primary concern of biologists and environmentalists today, as the impact humanity makes on the planet turns out to grave and irreversible. The challenge of the environmentalists and eco-activists today is not only to invent the ways and technologies that can abate the processes and consequences of global warming but to engage as many people as possible in the mindful consumption of the hazardous and non-recyclable products and items. The first thing to clarify is the reason for such a widespread concern about global warming and the threats it poses to future generations. As a result of climate change, the average temperature on Earth is changing.
During the course of global warming, the energy balance and thus the temperature of the earth change, due to the increased concentration of greenhouse gases, which has a significant impact on humans and the environment. It is not scientifically possible to assign individual weather events to the current climate change, however, it can be statistically proven that global warming will increase the probability of extreme weather events. The indirect consequences of climate change, which directly affect us humans and our environment, include:. As the global climate is a highly interconnected system that is influenced by many different factors, the consequences usually result in positive or negative feedback effects.
